Bingley Works 3D Printing
Crafting the Future, One Layer at a Time

About Alex
Welcome to Bingley Works 3D Printing. I'm Alex, and I've been turning imagination into reality through 3D printing since 2012. What started as a fascination inspired by a certain Blue Tank Engine has evolved into a passion for precision, design, and problem-solving.
The Beginning
I was captivated by the idea of creating something from nothing. In those early days, I printed simple models while experimenting with different designs and materials. Like all makers, I quickly discovered that 3D printing isn't always straightforward—supports would fail, prints would warp, and sometimes the printer simply wouldn't cooperate.
But that's where the real learning began.
Learning the Craft
I threw myself into understanding every aspect of the process. I learned to design my own models, to slice them properly, and most importantly, to troubleshoot when things went wrong. From miniature figurines to complex mechanical parts, each project taught me something new. Every failure became a stepping stone, and every success motivated me to push further.
One of my biggest early challenges was learning proper model support. I remember printing a dragon that collapsed halfway through—I simply hadn't added enough support structure. It was frustrating at the time, but it was the lesson that changed everything. Now, I can print models with intricate details and minimal errors because I learned to think ahead and plan every detail.
From Passion to Purpose
I studied Computer Science and am now doing Game Design at Derby University. My background in computing has given me a unique perspective on 3D printing—understanding not just the creative side, but the technical architecture behind every model. This combination of technical knowledge and creative passion drives me to continually innovate and improve.
What I'm Proud Of
I'm genuinely proud of what I've created and love sharing my work with others. Whether it's a detailed miniature, a functional mechanical part, or a complex artistic piece, each model represents the journey of learning, failing, and improving. My work reflects both precision and passion.
